The New Kids boys are going international, and they made sure it would be a memorable expedition. Krazy House is a mix of 90s US sitcoms, contrasted with their unique comedy and finished off with some Kevin Smith-style horror. It's a film that starts out funny (but a tad timid) and grows increasingly grotesque as it propels its way to a batshit bonkers finale. This was an absolute blast, with a great cast, insane jokes, and not a dull moment in sight. Haars and Van der Kuil nailed this one.
Ron Goossens, Low-budget Stuntman
Wacky, crude and absurd comedy based on a popular web series. Not sure how well the comedy travels as the characters and caricatures are extremely rooted in Dutch culture, but there's plenty to laugh at beyond the people's silly looks and juicy accents. Clearly not for everyone, but I had a lot of fun with this one.
Haars teams up with Nick Frost once more, this time for a more traditional horror/comedy. The setup is simple, the mix of comedy and horror feels familiar and the twist, while fun, isn't exactly earth-shattering. Thanks to some spirited performances and a tight runtime, it's still an amusing film though. Frost is perfect for his part, Aisling Bea matches him with ease. The two kids are not quite on the same level and the locals are a bit too silly, but that comes with the territory. It takes a while before the film gets going, but the second half is entertaining and that's all I really needed from this film. Haars can do better, but this was fine.Read all
