Slow cinema pur sang. Nothing much happens in this film. The lead character wanders around a remote rural village, connects with a local, and after a while, they part ways again. There are no deep conversations, no strong life lessons, and no overt drama. This is for the people who love movies that help them unwind. I didn't mind the film, but I need a more polished, stylized take to be blown away by it. The 4:3 aspect ratio is annoying, the soundtrack is too subtle and some of the shots were a bit too generic for me. The Japanese countryside is nice though and the connection between the two characters felt genuine enough. Good, but not great. Read all
