While not without faults, The Road Less Traveled is a pretty nice film featuring strong performances and striking visuals.
Derek Chiu gets serious. The stark black and white cinematography is a dead giveaway, but the theme of the film also leaves little to the imagination. Hong Kong is going through some tough times, it's not surprise then that filmmakers are suddenly very eager to talk about its rebellious past. The black and white cinematography truly is beautiful, it's the real eye-catcher of the film. The story about people standing up against oppression and its parallels through time is less engaging. While the drama has its moments, you have to wonder how much of a difference a film like this can really make, and whether it's worth going over the same points again and again.Read all
