An anthology disguised as a regular genre film, high on style and sporting some interesting setups. Quarxx is a director with a strong personal signature who isn't happy to stick to established genre conventions. Films that deviate from the norm have been struggling this past decade, so it's not surprising to see some pushback against Pandemonium. If you appreciate films with a heavy stylistic focus and a tendency to avoid the beaten paths, be sure to give this one a go. It's one of the cooler horror films I've seen for some time.

Quarxx's first feature is a real trip. It's a film that thrives on foreboding, cheats out on delivering the actual goods, then hits you hard with an unexpected finale. It's quite a dark and unpleasant film, not a film you'd want to watch if you're in for a fun genre flick, but that's not a negative in my book. The performances, score, and cinematography are all on point, Quarxx has a couple of surprises up his sleeve and the ending is a memorable one.
