One of the few Hollywood directors who dedicates his work to unfiltered fun and entertainment. If game franchise-based action blockbusters are your thing, there's really no better director out there. Others should approach with caution.

The latest Anderson/Jovovich collaboration. After successfully translating the Resident Evil franchise to the big screen, they're now trying to do the same with the Monster Hunter series. Not sure if it's going to be quite as popular since the lore of this one is noticeably weaker (disclaimer: I'm not familiar with the games), but at least they've managed to make a pretty decent action spectacle out of it. While I wasn't a big fan of the monster designs, it was nice to see some puny humans battling giant creatures again. The action looks slick, the CG is solid and the pacing is perfect. After a short introduction, the film delivers non-stop action, which I exactly what I want from a film like this. It's not what you'd call masterpiece material, but it's a damn entertaining blockbuster.Read all

Anderson's latest fantasy epic. I wasn't the biggest fan of the setting, the mix of post-apocalyptic wasteland and witches and werewolves didn't really do it for me, but Anderson made the most out of it. This hyperstylized film won't be for everyone, but at least the man committed to the film. The performances aren't that great and the lore feels unfinished, but the visuals are pretty extra and don't let up at any point in the film. The pacing is solid, there's enough variation in the settings, and there are some decent action scenes scattered throughout. Not his best film, but good fun.Read all
