The latest in the John Wick series is little more than a repeat of the earlier films, warts and all. It's a no-brainer recommendation for fans of the earlier installments, if not there's really no reason to prioritize this film. It's not a terrible action flick, but the 170-minute runtime does betray its misplaced sense of grandeur. The cinematography is pretty polished and Wick 4 has a solid cast, but it still fails where it matters the most. The action feels stiff and is poorly directed, a real setback for a film like this. The soundtrack is pretty bland too, as is the plot. They need a talented action choreographer and a gutsy editor if they ever want to redeem this series.Read all
Stahelski returns for the third part and that means very little changed. Reeves is still a miscast, the action is still subpar and the mythology is silly rather than mysterious. It's a shame, because the potential is definitely here and it's not like we're drowning in good action films nowadays, but apart from the colorful and lush styling this series has very little to offer.
