Hugh Grant does horror. It's an easy enough selling point and the directors were eager to exploit it. That doesn't mean they neglected the rest of the film though. The premise is a fun one, the rest of the cast is more than solid and the presentation is moody, though somewhat predictable. Heretic is a simple enough film, one that slowly builds up tension through crafty dialogues and a well-paced reveal. Few people will be shocked or surprised by the finale, but the way there is an entertaining one. I had a lot of fun with this one, not the most original horror out there, but the premise was cool and the execution was on point.Read all
Fun and creepy haunt house attraction flick. This little horror niche has been on the rise since a few years, most of them are released around Halloween, for obvious reasons. This is one of the better ones in the genre, with a cool setting, creepy masked villains and some rather nasty kills. Nothing original, good fun nonetheless.
I went in completely blank, that might not have been the best idea. I was looking for a fun sci-fi flick, but what I got was Adam Driver battling hordes of dinosaurs. Yes, there are sci-fi elements, but I'm not quite sure what they even added to the film. The mix just didn't really work for me. This is mostly just two people trying to escape some hungry dinosaurs, in a rather hostile environment. The build-up of tension is lacking, there's too much drama in between and the finale is lackluster. It's a semi-decent genre film with some thrills, but I expected more from these directors based on their previous efforts.Read all
