The first of the Trick movies. The material is pretty funny and Tsutsumi had access to a solid cast, but somehow these films never quite reached their full potential. Maybe it's because the existing franchise was popular enough to take a few shortcuts, but despite some fun elements, the films feel a little lazy.

The premise is pretty crazy and the film keeps you guessing throughout. It's not a dull film by any means and Tsutsumi has shown he can turn out a quality film if needed, but that energy is completely missing here. It all feels a tad cheap and rushed as if the budget and time simply weren't there. Still, if you like Japanese weirdness, it's still worth a try.
