Philippine cinema is a bit spicier these days. It's a surprising trend, it's not something you expect to see from a Southeast Asian country, especially not in more mainstream movies, but here we are. Sadly for Taya, that seems to be its main selling point. The rest of the film isn't all that great.

The premise is nice, but the sultry scenes aren't all that sexy and they often detract from the film. The performances aren't great, there are clear pacing issues and the build-up to the finale is a bit haphazard. It's an easy-going genre flick and with a little extra tweaking this could've been fun, but it's all just a little too flimsy.
