Plot: On October 11th, 1975, a new show would change the TV landscape forever. The creators of the show had a strong vision but nothing formal on paper, the network managers were praying to the gods. They could only trust them while they figured out the final kinks in the 90 minutes leading up its first live broadcast.

The film industry loves itself, and from time to time you'll get a circle-jerk movie about how magical and chaotic their business truly is. Saturday Night is exactly that but about a TV show. I'm not the biggest fan of these types of films and Reitman falls into the usual trap of overhyping these professions.
The setup (limiting the film to the 90 minutes preceding the first live show) is a bit smarter than usual and the performances are nice. Still, the endless bustle, the hyperactive characters, and the "artistic wonder" got on my nerves after a while. I guess big fans of the show will have a better time with this, I simply didn't believe the hype.
