Hong Kong cinema is dead, long live Hong Kong cinema. No Such Person won't revitalize HK cinema by itself, but it's this type of film that will eventually help them find a new identity. Sun comes up with a fun little thriller, with some atypical visual flourishes and updated themes and settings.
No Such Person is nothing like the average HK blockbuster. It's a smaller, independent film that isn't linked to the traditional Hong Kong genres and general vibe. The performances are decent, the plot is interesting and the pacing is excellent. The film could've been a bit more refined overall, but other than that, this was promising.
