Plot: In the 70s, young Kenji and his palls had a little club where they came up with stories about an evil organization. That organization was planning to destroy the world and everyone in it. Thirty years later, a series of disasters seem to be matching the stories Kenji wrote as a kid to the letter.

First film in a three-part adaptation of a famous and well-liked manga. I was a little disappointed that this film couldn't quite match its blockbuster aspiration. Parts of it look very cheap and underdeveloped, though the flashbacks and the finale alone are worth a watch. I expected a little more from a 2.5-hour film though.

It's also a bit of a bummer that the best actors were given tiny, secondary roles. The story is interesting but a little unfulfilling, the middle part starts to drag a little and the difference in quality between the flashbacks and present time is jarring. It's still a decent film, but I don't think it does the potential of the source material justice.
